"Heaven on Earth"

I’d wanted to stay in Port Quin for around thirty years, since reading Poldark for the first time. It was dangerous, as expectations were rather high! Trish and Barry were incredibly helpful with directions for a nervous driver, so if I can manage the narrow lanes, you can too.

On arrival, I leapt out of the car to look at the view. The slip is just steps from your front door. Have a hanky ready. Stunning won’t cover it. And I was well prepared. A more peaceful, beautiful and remote spot you’ll have trouble finding. When you’ve got over that, go and look at home for the week. {Or if you’re lucky, longer}

Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, fresh flowers and herbs. I was a bit worried about the bottle of wine. Had my reputation preceeded me? I can’t think of a thing that wasn’t provided down to the cuddly hot water bottle. Fortunately, I didn’t need him. The heating was excellent, and included in the price {lots don’t} all linens included, and beds made up.

Furniture is very good quality, tempted to take the TV table but no room in car. Views from windows to die for.

Hours of innocent fun on the beach and in the caves, just minutes up onto the cliffs. Polzeath one way, Port Isaac the other. Or walk up to St Endellion to see the church and have a cream tea on the way back at the LongCross. If you crave shops, pop to Port Isaac, you’ll find lovely food and things to buy. Good clothing at The Gullery, and get some seafood at Just Shellfish, in the fishcellars, and take it ‘home’ for tea.

If you’re lucky enough to be there in the summer months, Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends sing on the Platt on a Friday night from the end of May to September-ish. Lusty shanties and sea-songs, but safe enough to take the kids. But go early, it’s VERY busy. Singing starts around eightish. Or eight bells, if you prefer.

Would I go again? That would be a resounding YES!!!!!!!

"Fish Cellars apartment 1A"

We actually stayed in the apartment underneath Fish cellars 1, but it too is owned by the same people. We stayed in apartment 1A which is classed as a one bedroom apartment. It doesn’t have the views of apartment 1 but we knew this as that is made perfectly clear in the listings description and is reflected in the price of the apartment when compared to the price of apartment 1.

However, we loved where we stayed and would highly recommend it. You only have to step outside your door and you have all the beautiful views of apartment 1. The apartment is classed as a 1 bedroom, but the living room is spacious and has a futon in it which my 2 children slept in at night time.

The kitchen/ diner also has a sitting area in it, so my husband and I would sit there in the evening to let the kids sleep. There is no TV though which at first I thought I would miss, but ended up enjoying the peace and quiet and read a lot more than I otherwise would have!

The apartment was clean, tidy well organised and contained all the essentials.

The location of the apartment was good for us. You do need a car to get around, but the famous surfing beach of Polzeath (where my kids spent hours body boarding every day)is only a 10 min drive away, and the famous ‘Rock’, 15 minutes away. We would recommend taking the ferry from Rock to Padstow for the day as it is such a picturesque place with lots on and lovely shops to visit and great food to be found.

There is a beautiful coastal walk literally on your doorstep too, which is well worth walking.

If you have any questions before your visit, the owners always get back to you quickly via e-mail and offers helpful, useful advice. We love Cornwall and would not hesitate to book this beautiful, quaint cottage again. We would like to Thank the owners for our lovely stay.

"Little gem in a stunning location"

If you like peace and quiet and enjoy the finer things in life, then this is the place to stay. The cottage is brilliant, spacious, cosy, quality furniture & very comfortable a real home from home. Everything you need is there. (Towels are provided but if you use more than 2 take some more)

The views are to die for! You can lie in bed listening to the waves lapping the shore, its so peaceful. There are the caves & rock pools to explore when the tide is out, and there are stunning walks to do, with plenty to see along the way.

We walked to Polzeath and back via the coastal path, and then walked to Port Issac where they offer a taxi shuttle service back home if you can’t manage the walk back. Then at the end of a long day you can sit and watch the sunset over the bay – so beautiful.

There is also somewhere to park your car out of the way, and a private little garden where you can hang out your washing, or sit and have a bbq. It’s a great spot to get to other places too. Tintagle, Boscastle, Wadebridge, Padstow to name a few are not very far away. A car is an essential for getting out and about.

We had no mobile reception, until we got about a mile away, but there is wifi if you feel you need to keep in touch with family etc. Trisha the owner is great to get on with via e mails, always a fast response.
